Mike
Hetman's design work has been seen by over a million people across
the world. In particular, Mike had a large influence in the design
department of Music.com from 1999 to 2001, during the height of
its popularity. Mike also played the leading role in the design
and branding of his own company SearchtheWeb.com, beginning operations
in 1999 and continuing to this day.
Music.com, an online music
company, served as a promotional tool for musical artists and featured
downloadable music, the latest music news, album reviews, viral
marketed animated e-cards, and even artist interviews. Mike's work
at Music.com included being a key player in the design of three
successful relaunches of its own web site and of sites for Henry
Rollins, Danzig, Jill Sobule, Serge Lopez, Paul Overstreet, R.L.
Burnside and SClub7. Mike also created promotional sites for Samhain's
retrospective boxset and the Music.com sponsored Ecstasy tour for
Lou Reed. Using Flash, Mike independently created e-cards for Willa
Ford's single, "I Wanna Be Bad" and Placebo's "Special
K". Collaborating with co-worker David Hatchard saw the creation
of an e-card for Ray-J's "Wait a Minute" featuring Lil'
Kim. Music.com ceased operations in June 2001 and a smaller scale
version of the site operated for some time.
After Music.com, Mike
continued his passion for graphic and web design and has since worked
on a number of projects featured in his portfolio in addition to
SearchtheWeb.com. With an eye towards search engine optimization,
Mike continues to develop web sites for companies large and small.
